Afternoon Flour followers, this week’s Wednesday Wisdom is dedicated to Happiness. Following some heart-warming news stories this week of families reunited after ten years apart in the US, and a new international day dedicated to the pursuit of Happiness, here at Flour we want to know what makes you happy?
Happiness takes its form in a number of different ways; from simple pleasures like the smell of a freshly baked cake, to the life changing moments like welcoming a new family member into the world for the first time. Happiness is something so integral to the human conscious that the United Nations have declared that March 20 to be the first International Day of Happiness, declaring that “the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal.”
Even nicer than a national day celebrating being happy is that the initiative for Happiness Day came from the Kingdom of Bhutan, the small landlocked Himalayan state, which adopted a Gross National Happiness Index as a better measure of its people’s prosperity than its income.
Get happy people!
