As one of our regular features, every Wednesday we’re going to share some wisdom with you – be it something, someone or somewhere inspiring or a how-to relevant to the week. Check back every Wednesday to get your fix of wisdom half way through the week!
As it’s been an absolute blizzard of a week and quite frankly we’re all in some need of the sun firmly putting his hat on, lots of us have found it increasingly hard to get out of bed in the morning. We were chatting with friends and all of us agree the snooze button is a regular feature of our morning routine.
SO we’ve gathered a few tips to help motivate these chilly mornings – let us know if you have any more to add to the mix!
1. LET THE LIGHT IN
Even if there’s not so much sun about at the moment, opening your blind or curtains as soon as you wake helps you get up and go. Natural light kick starts your day and making sure you do this gets your bleary eyes up and at’em!
2. MORNING IS HERE..A MUSICAL START TO THE DAY
DO you remember the ‘Morning is here’ song from F.R.I.E.N.D.S? We’re not really suggesting waking up your neighbour with a tuneful (or not so tuneful) rendition of this song….but it did strike a chord with us and always makes us smile! Listening to music in the morning is a great way to get out of bed and start out on the right foot. Radio alarms are great just make sure they’re loud enough and not too mellow and if you’re a shower popstar why not try singing your heart out and making up your own morning song! What better reason do you need to get up in the morning that creating your ‘greatest hits’?!
3. BREAKFAST BRIBERY
Breakfast is one of our favourite meals at FLOUR and we love thinking of new and delicious ways to start the day. Having something ready in your fridge to awaken your tastebuds might get you hopping, skipping and jumping out of bed faster than usual. Take some time and try a homemade breakfast and indulgence one morning this week and let us know how it changes your day!

4. ALARM CLOCK OLYMPICS
One nifty way to ensure you actually leave your cosy haven is to hide your alarm clock or phone on the other side of your room and set a hideous noise that you just HAVE to get up and stop!! We love the idea of the alarm clock on wheels photographed above, having to chase that around your room would certainly wake you up before you go-go!
5. PEACE AND CALM
Fixing the problem upside down (one of the best ways to tackle problems we find) by making a cosy haven to sleep in and getting a good kip, this makes it a lot easier to wake up the next day. Buy a scented candle, get a good book, put your technology on charge and leave it alone before getting into bed and ultimately have some ‘me’ time before bed!
Now, who wants an afternoon nap?!
